"Continued One-Day-A-Week Watering Recommended"

Through a variance from the South Florida Water Management District the common areas of Gateway will be irrigated one day per week Monday – Saturday 8:00PM – 12:00AM.

Why stay with one-day-a-week?
Most lawns need about 3/4 to 1 inch of water once per week. Water can come from rain, or from irrigation. Infrequent but deep watering will encourage deep rooting, healthier and hardier plants with a greater tolerance for drought.

Too much water can hurt plants - over-watering creates shallow roots, making plants more vulnerable to disease and pests, as well as inviting weeds.

One-day-a-week watering has served Gateway well; the common areas and neighborhood laws are green. Ask yourself how your yard looks after several months on the one-day-a-week schedule.

The lakes are still very low in Gateway; a review of daily rainfall totals shows our area has received 61% less rain fall than areas West of I75. Conservation is still critical for our community.

Too much irrigation:

Makes your lawn less able to survive droughts
Encourages pests, diseases and weeds. Wastes water
Your lawn needs watering when:

Grass blades are folded in half Grass blades are blue-gray
Your footprint remains on the lawn
